IEEE POWER & ENERGY SOCIETY

I am going to illustrate all of the events, responsibilities in the order of recent to past for convenience.

But all of this was possible because of this first incident - I was nominated to become the Student Chairperson  of my Institution's (Sri Sairam Engineering College) IEEE PES Student Branch Chapter in the Fall of 2016 due to my leadership capabilities that I showcased in other events of my college.

It was also possible because of the following program "PES Networking Without Borders (NwB):

The Networking without Borders mission meant that now there was a whatsapp group and a facebook group where one can interact, collaborate and have access to students, faculties, professionals from across the world.

• The NwB's mission is transform students into future leaders in the world. This mission will be achieved by connecting the PES student chapters on thematic projects in the energy to impact the largest number of people around the world.

• With this strategic mission of PES NwB project the students will become agents that will promote the growth of PES and impact of IEEE in humanity.

I lead many events during my tenure including:

  • Technical Lectures

  • Industrial Visits

  • RES events, etc

RES events, What does that mean?

For that we must know what RES is?

RES means Renewable Engineering in Schools

•Renewable Engineering in Schools (RES) is the 1st PES NwB project.

•This project's mission is to teach students in schools about alternative ways to generate energy with renewable energy.

•All selected PES student chapters received financial support to buy the educational kits (US$ 200 maximum)

•About 55 PES Student Chapters from 19 countries in all 10 Regions were selected and allocated educational Kits.

Under my leadership of the Student Branch Chapter:

•Our PES Student Chapter was one of 16 PES Student Chapter selected from Region 10

•We were the only PES Student Chapter from IEEE Madras Section to be selected for this program.

Under my leadership our PES Student Branch Chapter won the High Performing Student Branch Chapter (HPSBC) Award twice in 2015 and 2016.

This award is granted to the most active PES Student Chapters.

Since we conduct many events such as technical lectures, workshops, industrial visits, etc, we won this reward of about 335 USD each time.

August 2018
3rd IEEE PES STUDENT CONGRESS TRAVEL SUPPORT

I was one of 15 students from India , one of 3 students from Madras Section and 130 students from 26 countries across the world to receive the travel support for attending the 3rd International IEEE PES Student Congress.

I received 1600 USD for my travel and accommodation expenses from IEEE

3rd IEEE PES Student Congress
It was a blast representing India on the Global Stage at Universidade Federal do ABC, São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo, Brazil.
It was a one of a kind experience making new friends, understanding different cultures  from different countries ( Brazil, El Salvador, Peru, Mexico, USA, Palestine, Jordan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and many more) and most of all the love that pours through all of it.
This was my first International Trip , could not have asked for a better first international trip than this.
